10 Best Desserts at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World

Disney Springs has become such a hot spot at Walt Disney World with excellent shopping, delicious dining and fun entertainment.  Many people are dedicating vacation time to visiting and enjoying this beautiful area.  One of my favorite things to do at Disney Springs is eat.  And one of my favorite things to eat is dessert.  So, this is the perfect place to combine these 2 passions.  In fact, I recommend coming to Disney Springs in the evening and planning on your dessert here.  This is my list of the top 10 desserts at Disney Springs (and it is a tough one to narrow down):

10. S’more Pie at Blaze Pizza

While Blaze is one of my top choices for any meal—it is delicious and a great “bargain” in Disney terms.  But I would also recommend coming by just for their S’more Pie.  A classic campfire staple this version has a generous amount of marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between wafers.  It is pre-melted but you can order it warmed up . . . for delicious ooey-gooey yumminess.

9. Gibsons S’mores Baked Alaska at the Boathouse

Get your cameras ready, the Baked Alaska served up at the Boathouse is Instagram-worthy for sure!  This gigantic dessert serves for (and has the price tag to match), but it is truly enormous.  Following the S’mores are good eats trend, the Gibsons S’mores Baked Alaska features rocky road ice cream surrounded by meringue, mini marshmallows cover the meringue and are torched for the S’mores effect, and then Hershey bar pieces are stuck into the marshmallows.  Yes, it is over the top & good.  If you are looking for a smaller treat at the Boathouse I also love the Key Lime Pie in a Mason Jar (which is also pretty photogenic).

8. Milkshakes from Planet Hollywood Observatory

Following the trend of huge and over the top, Planet Hollywood Observatory offers a menu of those crazy milkshakes that are so popular right now.   These “Supernova” shakes come in three flavor varieties:  Cosmic Cotton Candy, Chocolate Comet & Strawberry Big Bag.  Each one is a hand dipped flavor topped with all kinds of crazy stuff like sprinkles and a slice of birthday cake on the Strawberry Big Bang.

7. Sundaes at Ghirardelli

Ghirardelli is located in the heart of the Marketplace section of Disney Springs right by the World of Disney, Basin and the entertainment stage, so it is a great place to make a quick stop in and grab something sweet to eat at Disney Springs.  They offer a wide variety of ice cream options, and I love the sundae combinations on their menu.  The Strike It Rich Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae and the Lands End Salted Caramel Brownie Sundae rank pretty highly, but as a fan of dark chocolate I really love their Intense Dark Sundaes.  The Painted Ladies Espresso Escape is fabulous:  Espresso Chip Ice Cream layered with handmade Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge topped with Whipped Cream and an Intense Dark 72% Twilight Delight Chocolate.  And don’t forget to look for the person handing out free chocolate samples!

6. Artisanal Shakes at D-Luxe Burger

D-Luxe Burger has great burgers, but they also have great shakes.  Their artisanal shakes start with gelato so right off the bat they are pretty special.  For Family-Friendly options I like the Cake Gelato Shake (Vanilla Gelato blended with Milk and Cupcake Syrup, topped with Whipped Cream, Rainbow Sprinkles, and Maraschino Cherry) and the Strawberry Shortcake Gelato Shake (Strawberry Shortcake Gelato Shake (Vanilla Gelato blended with Milk, Toasted Marshmallow, crushed Graham Crackers, and Strawberry Sauce, topped with Whipped Cream and Maraschino Cherry).  However, if you are looking for a grown up treat D-Luxe Burger also offers shakes with alcohol.  Check out the Godiva Chocolate and Strawberry Malt Gelato Shake (Vanilla Gelato blended with Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur, Dark Chocolate Sauce, and Malt, topped with Whipped Cream and Strawberry Drizzle) or the Vanilla Porter Gelato Shake (Vanilla Gelato blended with Breckenridge Vanilla Porter and Dark Chocolate Sauce).

5. Orange Blossom Honey Cake at The Polite Pig

I have found recently that my 3 Go-To Quick/Casual service restaurants at Disney Springs are Blaze Pizza, D-Luxe Burger and The Polite Pig.  All three offer excellent quick meal options.  At The Polite Pig I love their signature Orange Blossom Honey cake that is made with local Florida ingredients.  This cake is dense, but overall a lighter dessert in flavor with a lot of citrus flavor and the sweetness from the honey.  It is moist & delicious and I recommend giving it a try.  It is the perfect complement to your meal of barbecued meats at the Polite Pig, or as a stand-alone dessert.

4. Hummingbird Cake at Art Smith’s Homecomin’

Hummingbird Cake is a Southern Staple of desserts.  You’ll find it at many a celebration or pot luck dinner.  It is a rich spice cake kind of like a carrot cake but made with bananas and pineapple.  And, of course, cream cheese icing is the perfect pairing.  They layer cake has a perfect proportion of cream cheese icing to cake.  And at Art Smith’s Homecomin’ they serve you up a huge slice, just like family.

3. Create Your Own at Goofy’s Candy Company

Literally like a kid in a candy shop, Goofy’s Candy Company is a must-do for kids (and adults).  Eyes open wide when you enter this colorful sweet shop, and the options to create your own dessert masterpiece are just too much fun.  Create your own options include a “base” of a Specialty Apple, Crisped Rice Treat, Marshmallow Stick or Gingerbread Cookie, and you take it from there with toppings.  These are also fun to get “to-go.”

2. Sampler at the Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe

Located near the Boathouse, the Ganachery occupies a smaller brick storefront in Disney Springs, but inside it packs huge chocolate taste.  The shop is staffed by expert chocolatiers who are creating delicious and beautiful chocolates each day.  Part of the fun here is actually watching the chocolate being made in the open kitchen.  You can purchase pre-packaged chocolates like bars that are flavored to fit the theme of some of our favorite Disney characters (like the Minnie Mouse that features milk chocolate with dried strawberries), and Disney Parks around the world (like the Walt Disney World dark chocolate with orange and fruit tea flavors).  These would make very fun souvenirs.  The signature Ganache mixture of chocolate and cream comes in 16 flavors made in house.  This is what I recommend you choose for your dessert here.  Sample packs come in boxes of 6 or 12 (and you can buy individual pieces as well).  Let one of the expert Cast Members guide you to choose from the delicious flavors & enjoy!

1. Anything from Amorette’s Patisserie

Literally, anything in the store.  Amorette’s Patisserie is a beautiful shop located near the World of Disney that exudes French elegance.  Inside the shop is like stepping into a beautiful French bakery with all of your sense being hit with the delicious smells and the beautiful sight of their pastries and cakes.  They offer signature pastries like the “Sunset on Mile Marker 0” Key Lime Tart, and the Mickey Mouse (Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Dark Chocolate Mousse and White Chocolate Mousse).  Petit Cakes like the Amorette’s Petit Cake (Eleven layers of Red Velvet Cake, Chocolate Cake, Cherry Mousse, Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Pate De Fruit Jelly, and Italian Buttercream) are available along with full size character cakes.  Macarons, Eclairs, Crème Brulee and more round out the tantalizing menu at Amorette’s Patisserie.  You owe yourself a stop in, even if it is just window shopping (but I bet you will come out with a treat.
