Ingredients

For each serving:
  • 6 cups Ice cubes (enough to fill a gallon-sized freezer bag about half way)
  • tablespoon Kosher salt (Ice cream salt or table salt will work too)
  • 1 cup cream soda
  • 1 teaspoon butterscotch ice cream topping
For the Cream Topping:
  • 1 c. heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. butterscotch topping

Equipment

  • Hand Mixer

Method

  1. Step 1: Place ice cubes and salt in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag.
A clear plastic bag filled with ice cubes sits in a transparent bowl on a wooden cutting board. There’s a red and white striped cloth at the edge of the board on the left, and a cut-off view of another bag with red contents to the right.
For the Slush:
  1. Step 1: Place cream soda and butterscotch in a smaller quart-sized Ziploc bag, press out all the air and seal tightly. Mix around until the butterscotch is mixed in with the cream soda.
A transparent Ziploc bag filled with a tan-colored liquid and some bubbles is placed on a wooden surface. The bag has a white label, and part of a red-and-white striped cloth is visible in the top left corner of the image.
  2. Step 2: Place bag of soda IN the bag of ice and seal.
A transparent resealable plastic bag filled with ice cubes rests on a wooden cutting board. A red and white striped cloth is visible in the upper left corner. The cutting board is placed on a white marble surface with a few small ice pieces scattered around.
  3. Step 3: Shake for about 3-5 minutes or until the soda is nice and slushy- if it gets too cold, wrap a dish cloth around it and continue shaking.
A hand holding a clear freezer bag filled with a light brown liquid, possibly soup or broth. The bag is being placed inside another larger bag. The person has pastel purple nail polish. In the background, there is a red and white striped fabric.
  4. Step 4: Pour slush into a cup and top with butterscotch cream topping (below).
Two glass mugs filled with frothy, creamy-looking butterscotch-colored beverages, sitting on a wooden tray. A red and white striped cloth is in the background, along with a bottle of amber liquid and a couple of golden teaspoons.
For the Cream Topping:
  1. Step 1: Beat the cream and butterscotch with a mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form.
A glass bowl filled with smooth, white whipped cream sits on a wooden surface. To the left, a yellow bottle of butterscotch sundae syrup is partially visible. To the right, a hand mixer with whipped cream on its beaters rests on the table.
