12. Grapefruit Cake – Brown Derby, Hollywood Studios
This dessert is not only one of the Brown Derby restaurant’s trademarks—it’s also legendary and has a bit of an interesting history to it. It was created by a chef at the original Brown Derby restaurant in California at the request of a famous gossip columnist who complained that all the Derby offered were fattening desserts. Since everyone had heard that grapefruit is slimming, the chef created this cake, and there’s no way on earth that it is non-fattening! It’s a beautiful dessert that sandwiches layers of yellow cake with grapefruit cream cheese frosting. If you’ve never tried it, it’s worth making a dining reservation at the Brown Derby just for dessert!
