How to Survive the Upcoming Summer Disney Days, From a Native Floridian

Visiting Walt Disney World Resort can be a blast, but it can also be a disaster if you’re not fully prepared.

It’s also worth noting that visiting Walt Disney World Resort is nothing like it used to be. There are currently four theme parks, and each Disney Park has grown exponentially.

Even if you stay for an entire week at Walt Disney World, there will still be experiences you may have missed due to how big the Parks are.

First and foremost, you will definitely need water. Bring at least one bottle for everyone in your party, and drink often.

Not only that but be sure to refill your bottles often too. Dehydration is no joke, especially in Florida, and can easily lead to heat exhaustion.

Up next on the list is sunscreen! It’s best to apply before leaving for the Disney Resort and bring it in your bag.

Between sweating and the inevitable rain, the initial layer of sunscreen could easily be washed away. Nothing can put a damper on a Disney vacation like a bad sunburn!

Another great way to beat the heat is to take advantage of Disney World’s many indoor shows, shops, and eateries. A midday lunch break in an air-conditioned cafe will make everyone feel better.

Also, each Disney hotel is equipped with a stunning pool, and some even have a small water park! It’s a great idea to take a midday break at the Disney Resort’s pool and recharge that way before returning to the theme park.

When visiting the Parks, wearing something light, airy, and athletic is best. Anything that keeps you from feeling weighed down and sweaty is a good choice! Avoid dark colors and heavy fabrics, especially when visiting EPCOT or Animal Kingdom. Hats are never a bad idea, either!
