12 Things You’ll Never See Again at Walt Disney World

10) The Maelstrom -- If you visited EPCOT at Disney World anytime after 1988, you probably remember the Maelstrom attraction in the Norway pavilion of the World Showcase. It was an exciting ride aboard an old Norwegian Viking ship. The ride took Guests on a tour of parts of Norway and even included a backward 28-foot drop (the story was that an angry old troll pushed the ship down a waterfall). At the bottom of the drop, Guests found themselves looking out over the North Sea at an oil platform in the distance. The ride ended with Guests disembarking and then being seated in a room where a short film about Norway was shown. The Maelstrom made its final voyage in 2014 to make way for the new Frozen-inspired attraction called Frozen Ever After, which opened in 2016. We’re happy that at least the Imagineers used the same track and same ships from the Maelstrom attraction in the new ride—a bit of nostalgia we like to experience when we visit the Norway pavilion.
