Walt Disney World to Allow Dogs to Stay at Disney Resorts

For all of you dog families out there, you are going to be extremely excited to learn one of the latest announcements made by Disney Parks Blog today!  The announcement was that dogs would now be allowed to stay in guest rooms at select resorts!  This new opportunity for pets begins starting on Sunday, October 15th.  The offering is limited to only 4 of the Disney resorts at this time and there will be an additional cleaning rate that will be charged to the reservation.  The fee will be charged per night of stay and the amount will vary depending on the resort.

Here are the resorts where dogs will be allowed to stay and the rates that guests can expect:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort $50/night
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort $50/night
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort $75/night
  • Cabins at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort $50/night

There will be a maximum of two dogs per individual room allowed.  The rooms with pets will be in areas where guests will have access to walkways and pet areas for them to walk and do their business.  The resorts will also make other accommodations to prepare for the furry guests staying at the resorts.  Guests will find that at check-in they will receive a well welcome kit that includes: a mat, bowls, pet ID tag, disposable pet waste bags, puppy pads, maps to the pet areas around the resort and a special door hanger to inform the various cast members that there is a pet in the room.

There will be special pet merchandise that will be coming to the resorts for purchase to help make pet stays more exciting and comfortable.

Also, per Disney Parks Blog:  “While dogs will be allowed to stay in guest rooms, they will be expected to be well behaved, leashed in public resort areas and properly vaccinated. For more information about the new dog-friendly trial program, including other restrictions and policies, guests may contact 407-W-DISNEY. DVC Members should contact Member Services at 800-800-9800.”

Who would love to bring their dog(s) to stay with them in their room at Walt Disney World?  Is it worth the added per night charge?
