River Country Pool at Walt Disney World to be Filled

River Country was the first water park at Walt Disney World, that closed in 2002.  It has been the subject of various YouTube videos, theories and wild stories since the water park was basically abandoned and nature was allowed to take over.  It is being reported that the pool at the center of the park will be drained and filled in with dirt.

There are various theories as to why they would do this.  There is the risk that a child could wander away from their parents and fall into a partially filled pool and hurt themselves.  There is also the theory that the standing water could attract more mosquitos bringing the Zika virus.

Disney reports that this plan has been in place for a while now.  There are no reports, though, about whether any other area of the deserted park will receive attention or if the pool is the only thing being worked on for now. We will keep you posted as we learn more on this very interesting story and what it could mean at Walt Disney World.
