The new mug designs are now making their appearance at Disney resorts! You can see the design (and some of the old design) from various angles in the images below. They are currently found among the mugs with the old designs, but we are so excited to see these new mug coming out! So far blue, red, and green have been spotted, but more colors may be added as these mugs continue to roll out! The mugs have Mickey and friends approaching the Walt Disney World entrance sign.

Check out our article below “8¬†Things You Must Know About Disney’s Refillable Mugs:”

You won’t be on Walt Disney World property very long before you see your first Disney refillable mug. They seem to be everywhere! The body of the mug has a picture of Mickey and friends, and there are several different bright colors for the top. Officially known as Rapid Refill Mugs, here are eight things that you will want to know if you are thinking about buying one.

8) Keeping It Clean

You may wonder how you will keep your mug clean. After all, you’ll be drinking out of it countless times during your stay. Disney has you covered, there are Washing Stations in many of the food courts and other places where the mugs are used. While staying on Disney property hand washing is recommended, running the mug through a dishwasher will ruin the RDIF chip on the bottom. Once you get home, you can put it on the top shelf of your dishwasher.

7) Use at Any Resort

Rapid Refill Mugs can be used at any of the Walt Disney World resorts. You do not have to use it only where you bought it. Feel free to purchase your mug at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, but then fill it up again when you spend an evening at Disney’s BoardWalk. The mugs will not work at resorts that are not owned by Disney, even if they are on Disney property. That means that you can’t use your mug at places like Disney’s Swan and Dolphin or Shades of Green, since those resorts are not owned by Disney.

6) Refillable Mugs and the Disney Dining Plan

If you have signed up for the Disney Dining Plan, you will not need to purchase a Rapid Refill Mug. One is included with the plan for each member of your party at no additional charge. The Disney Dining Plan mugs will be good for the length of your stay.

5) Where to Refill the Mugs

In order to refill your mug, just look for a Refill Station at a resort hotel. A safe bet would be to look at the resort’s food court. There is also a good chance that your mug can be refilled at a resort’s pool bar. If you can’t find a Refill Station, ask the closest cast member. It is a question that they hear all the time.

4) Length of Stay

When the updated Rapid Refill Mug program first rolled out, you could purchase a mug for one, two, or three days, as well as length of stay. That has since changed, now the only option is length of stay. The cost is currently $16.49 per mug. That might sound expensive, but if you’re staying for a week that’s about $2.35 a day, and you get to keep the mug.

3) Types of Beverages

You can fill your Rapid Refill Mug with all of the normal soft drinks. (Disney sells Coca-Cola products.) You can also fill it with lemonade and Powerade in many places. You can mix beverages if you would like. The mug does not need to be used for soft drinks, you can fill it with iced tea as well. Hot beverages are also possible with your mug, so you can enjoy coffee, hot tea, or hot cocoa. Your mug cannot be used for alcoholic beverages.

2) How to Use the Mug

The Rapid Refill Mug system is easy to use. Just place the mug down in front of your beverage of choice. Press the button, and wait until you get a “fill complete” message. That’s it! If you want to mix different types of beverages in one use just keep moving it and adding until you receive the “fill complete” message. While the mugs also work for hot beverages, you may not have a screen telling you when the mug is full, so be careful.

1) Rapid Refill Mugs and the Theme Parks

Your Rapid Refill Mug will not work in the Walt Disney World theme parks. You’re more than welcome to fill it up at a resort and take it into a park with you, but remember that you will then have to carry it for the entire day. The mugs will also not work in the water parks. The water parks have their own refillable mug program, and the two are not interchangeable.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
