Disney Parks Blog Releases Info on Walt Disney World’s Skyliner Transportation System

We have another installment of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas announcements from Disney Parks Blog that pertains to Walt Disney World.  We announced previously that there will be a new Disney Skyliner transportation system that will be added at Walt Disney World to transport guests to and from Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and defined Disney resorts.  We are so excited to learn some of the latest and greatest information about the new transportation system.  We have learned that there will be Disney characters added to some of the cabins to give the appearance that the characters are riding along with the guests.

Here is one of the concept renderings for the Disney Skyliner:

The overall design for the station at International Gateway at Epcot is changing.  The station will be designed after the early 18th century Art Nouveau style.  The position of the Disney Skyliner will also provide guests with a unique view of World Showcase with an opportunity to get a birds-eye view of the area.

The station that will be located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be the hub for the Disney Skyliner.  The station will be themed to fit in with the Caribbean them of the resort and will have an “open air village marketplace” type of feel to the station.  This is the station where guests would transfer gondola routes in order to reach a different destination or stop and enjoy the resort.

The other gondola stations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Pop Century Resort/Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will also match the theme of their respective areas.  Guests will be able to enjoy aerial views of the areas unlike what they have been able to experience previously.  Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will have one shared station where guests at both resorts can access.

Cabins are expected to slow down at the Disney Skyliner turn-station so guests can see the mechanical components for how the Skyliner works.  This is expected to be located along Buena Vista Drive.

Who else is extremely excited to try out the new Disney Skyliner?
