Big Changes in Magic Bands Use at Disney World!

Magic Bands just got a lot more powerful.

As of June 3, 2014, long range RFID capabilities will be used in all four Walt Disney World theme parks. According to WDWMAGIC, MagicBands are now being linked with the photos that are taken at several rides. The rides in question are Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom, Test Track at Epcot, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and DINOSAUR and Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Pictures will automatically be linked to a guest’s My Disney Experience account. For now, the guest must have also purchased the Memory Maker Package. MagicBands are also required to take advantage of the new service, it will not work if you use an RDIF card. This is the first time that a MagicBand is required for a service instead of being just a convenience item.

About Rick Killingsworth

Rick visited the Magic Kingdom in 1971 for the first Christmas parade in their history. At nine years old, he was bitten by the Disney Bug. He can still remember the sights, the smells, and the sounds. It truly was magical. It would be twenty years before he could afford to take his young family back to β€œThe World.” It was the vacation of a lifetime, and they have been fortunate to go hundreds of times since. His daughters, now grown, still tear up when they see the castle (as does he).
