9 Totally True Facts About Walt Disney World Restaurants

There are a ton of internet articles devoted to eating at Walt Disney World. With so much information, it’s easy to bogged down. We have nine, simple things about the Disney restaurants for you to remember when planning your next trip.

9. Breathtaking Views

Many Walt Disney World restaurants boast incredible views! California Grill looks out over Magic Kingdom. Rose and Crown, Spice Road Table, and La Hacienda de San Angel all offer waterfront views of Epcot Forever. Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants overlook savannas. Toledo at Gran Destino Tower and Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera Resort both offer stunning Walt Disney World property views and glimpses of fireworks at night. Try any of these locations to enjoy a unique look at the resort!

8. More Affordable Than You Think

Dining out is never “cheap,” but you might be surprised at how affordable some of the Disney restaurants are! Obviously, the counter service locations are cheaper, but many of the table service restaurants have price points on par with Chilis (with the exception of one or two pricey entrees). Look into the Dining Plan to determine if it’s right for your family. And don’t forget about sharing meals, skipping sides, and ordering kid’s sizes– all viable ways to save a few bucks!

7. Allergy Friendly

Walt Disney World believes everyone deserves a magical vacation. That belief extends to guests with food allergies. In my family, we have one with a shrimp allergy, and another with a peanut allergy. We’ve never had a hard time finding either something to eat. When making reservations, simply note the allergies (can be done either via phone or online!). Usually, a chef from the table service restaurants will come to the table to discuss dietary options and make sure everyone will stay healthy. At the counter service restaurants, a Cast Member may give you a separate menu with all the allergy information and help you make a decision. In our experience, every Cast Member, manager, and chef has been gracious and so helpful in choosing a safe meal!

6. More Than Just Burgers and Fries

A major misconception about dining at Walt Disney World is that choices are limited to burgers, fries, chicken fingers, and other fried foods. That’s just untrue! Sure, guests can definitely find those choices, but there is so much more! Even just looking at counter service restaurants, your choices can range from lobster rolls, to sushi, to barbecue ribs. And that’s just the fast food! The table service restaurants offer even more varied menus, just waiting to be explored!

5. Eat More, Save Money

Usually, eating more does not save money, but if you time your meals right, you can save a lot of money on your food! Lunch is usually cheaper than dinner, and breakfast is cheaper than lunch. So, by making your big meals early in the day, you can stay full and stretch your dollars. By eating a big, late breakfast, you can probably skip lunch. Even if you grab a mid-afternoon snack, it will likely be much less expensive than a full meal at lunch. Or, a late lunch around 3:30 can keep you full all evening. Plus, by eating at “weird” times, you’ll avoid the long lines and waits at restaurants at “normal” meal times.

4. Meet Characters

Why not meet your favorite characters, and enjoy a meal? You can meet the Fab Five, princesses, Disney Jr. characters, Winnie the Pooh, and more! Use the filter tools on the Walt Disney World website to find a complete list of character dining, and make reservations for your vacation.

Other romantic date options are Le Cellier (Epcot), Jiko (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge), Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom), California Grill (Contemporary Resort), Toledo (Gran Destino Tower), Topolino’s Terrace (Riviera Resort), and Hollywood Brown Derby (Disney’s Hollywood Studios). The higher price points at these restaurants correlates to less children, so you can enjoy a date at Walt Disney World without being surrounded by kids.
