8 Things You’ll Love about STK Orlando at Walt Disney World

If you are looking for a trendy meal in Disney Springs and a hearty steak is what you are craving, look no further than STK Orlando.  This restaurant has a mix of dining styles, but one menu that it is big on taste.  I seriously could make a meal out of their sides and bread (if the steaks weren’t just so mouth-wateringly good).  Here are 8 things you’ll love about it:

8. Entertainment

The various seating areas of STK Orlando each have a different vibe, and the downstairs seating feels a bit more upscale in a trendy “today” sort of way.  And with that you will find a DJ providing entertainment that can be heard loud and clear through the dining area.  It may interfere with conversations, so if you are wanting to talk with your dining partner you may want to request a table in the more casual upstairs dining area.  The music is played throughout the restaurant, but the volume is not as loud outside of the downstairs area.  But—if you are looking for some fun and enjoy music as part of your meal the downstairs area with the great DJ is the place for you.  It definitely creates a party atmosphere for guests.

7. Open Table

STK Orlando has two ways you can make reservations, through Walt Disney World as you do your other Disney dining meals, or through Open Table.  The Open Table option is nice because you have a little more flexibility if plans change compared to Disney’s reservation system.  You should always cancel if you know you aren’t able to dine during your reservation, but you can do it a little more last minute if you made your reservation with Open Table.  Just remember it isn’t going to show up in your My Disney Experience account that way.

6. Private Dining Rooms

If you are in Orlando with a group or having a special occasion like a wedding (or anniversary or graduation celebration) you can look into STK Orlando’s private dining rooms and spaces as an option for your party.  You would contact STK Orlando directly (information on their website) to get more details.

5. Atmosphere

Everything in Disney Springs is created to look like a town that grew and evolved with its roots in the early 20th century (kind of like the Disney Company).  Various types of buildings like the electric company, airport, logging company etc. are repurposed for shops and dining.  The backstory of STK Orlando is that the building was a 1900s train station that was converted into the restaurant and you can see some evidence of that inside and outside.  But inside the STK brand takes over with the trademark white ceramic longhorns.  For the most part the interior is sleek, modern and urban.  Downstairs dining is the most upscale, the upstairs is more casual feeling, and the outdoor spaces offer fantastic views.  I’m pretty sure the patio dining is my favorite.

4. Raw Bar

While STK Orlando is obviously a steak house, they offer an impressive raw bar option.  Oysters on the Half Shell, Shrimp Cocktail, Chilled Lobster, Alaskan King Crab, and Ceviche maker for great starters to your meal.  Or get the Shellfish Platter with a combination for your table.

3. The Sides

Another menu favorite for me are the side items that you order a la carte to go with your chosen meat.  They are large and are meant to serve more than one person (although that mac & cheese is so good you may want it all for yourself).  Just keep in mind that if you want something to go with your steak you will be ordering it separately.  The stand outs to me (other than the mac & cheese) were the Parmesan Truffle Fries, Cauliflower Gratin, Sweet Corn Pudding, and the steakhouse staple Creamed Spinach.

2. The Bread

At STK Orlando you are served a complimentary bread service—and it is a thing of beauty.  You get a cute little skillet filled with tender rolls (think pull apart bread).  But wait, these warm rolls are topped with a melted “Blue Butter,” and STK highlight.  This butter is mixed with bleu cheese and it is phenomenal but not overpowering.  The bread is also served with a small bowl of pesto to dip.  Yummm

1. The Steak

Obviously, you come to STK Orlando for steak.  And while they offer a lot of great entrees, the red meat is where it is at here.  The steak menu is divided into “Small” like a 6 oz filet, Medium like a 16 oz sirloin and large like a 32 oz Porterhouse or a 32 oz Cowboy Rib Steak.  I found the steaks to have a fantastic flavor and they were cooked to perfection per each of our requests around the table.  But the goodness doesn’t stop there.  You can order both toppings and/or sauces to go with your steak creating virtually endless combinations.  Truffle Butter, Shrimp, King Crab are offered as some of the toppings and au poivre, blue butter, red wine or béarnaise give you some of the sauce options.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  You can have your steak just the way you love it.

Have you experienced STK Orlando?  What do you love about it?
