One of the very best lands in all of Disney World is Pandora in Animal Kingdom. This new land is incredibly detailed, and we absolutely love everything about it. However, there are a few things that stand out as especially awesome. Below we’ve compiled a list of these extra cool things, so you can be sure to check them out on your next visit to this incredible place.
1. Avatar Flight of Passage
Easily the coolest ride in this land, Animal Kingdom, or anywhere on Disney property, Avatar Flight of Passage is a truly incredible experience. During the ride, guests ride on the backs on Banshees (Pandora’s dragon-like creatures) through the use of Avatars. These Banshees fly their passengers through many different incredible Pandora landscapes, giving them a truly unique flight. While this is happening, riders can smell the world, feel water in their face, and even feel their Banshee breathing beneath them. Of course, this is all absolutely amazing, making it one ride you won’t soon forget.
2. Swotu Wayä Drummers
Just outside of the entrance to Na’vi River Journey, you’ll find a set of drums that are made entirely of the flora of Pandora. Often, drummers perform here, using the drums to create amazing music and even inviting guests to participate in the show. This is a fabulous performance and is especially great for families with young children that enjoy drumming on things and making lots of noise.
3. Night Blossom from Pongu Pongu
Of course, you will likely work up a thirst from all of this fun. If this is the case, be sure to stop by Pongu Pongu (Na’vi for “party party”) and pick up a Night Blossom. This drink is layered, involves plenty of gorgeous colors, and is absolutely beautiful to look at. The flavors include apple and pear limeade, as well as passion fruit boba balls. 4. Banshee Puppet Toys
A super cool souvenir, the Banshee puppets sold at the Pandora gift shop are fun to play with, no matter how old you happen to be. These little friends will perch on your shoulder and follow all of your commands without question. To adopt one you must enter the rookery—which is home to dozens of baby Banshees—and learn a thing or two about the creatures. After that, you can choose any Banshee you like to be your forever friend.
5. Na’vi River Journey
The second ride in Pandora is Na’vi River Journey. While not as thrilling or technologically advanced as Flight of Passage, this ride certainly is worth experiencing. The attraction takes guests on a boat ride through Pandora, where they will see plenty of local wildlife and some of the most amazing animatronics we’ve ever laid eyes on. Riding makes you feel as though you’re a part of the Na’vi community, and really helps you appreciate the beauty of nature.
6. Flaska Reclinata Spitting Plant
As you enter Pandora, you will see a giant plant on your right. Touching this plant causes a reaction that includes spitting water onto the ground, something some kids just can’t get enough of. Go ahead and give a try next time you’re there, and be sure to snap a photo in front of this magnificent plant.
7. Bowls from Satu’li Canteen
We love all of the unique food and drink options in Pandora. Some of the best options are the bowls served over at Satu’li Canteen. These bowls include a base, a protein, and toppings, and can be built however you like. This is perfect for picky eaters, as well as those who like to try a bit of everything. Best of all, they are a tasty and healthy change of pace when you’ve been dining on the usual theme park food that tends to consist of burgers and nuggets. Give one a try. You won’t be disappointed.
8. Wilderness Explorers Stops
The Wilderness Explorers stations found throughout Animal Kingdom are super cool. They give kids a chance to learn something new in a really fun way and earn sticker “badges” for doing so. A couple of the most fun Wilderness Explorer stops just happen to be in Pandora. These are the Botany and Ecology badge stops, and both use both Pandora and Earth as examples to teach about nature and science. If you have time, be sure to let your kids give this program a try.
