8 Best Menu Options For Cheese Lovers At Walt Disney World

There are tasty cheese dishes everywhere you turn in Walt Disney World.  In fact, as we thought about our previous meals in WDW, it was hard to think of a meal that hadn’t involved cheese in some form!  With so many cheese dishes to choose from, we know each guest will have his or her favorite.  Here are a few of ours – how many have you tried?

1. Queso Fundido

This is one of our all-time favorite cheese dishes, and for a cheese lover, it doesn’t get much more basic than this!  Queso fundido is hot melted cheese, and it’s glorious.  It’s typically served with tortilla chips and with a variety of toppings (such as salsa, peppers, and chorizo).  We’ve enjoyed this delightful dish at La Hacienda de San Angel and at Maya Grill, at Coronado Springs.

2. Cheese Platter

Another basic must-eat for cheese lovers at Walt Disney World is the ubiquitous cheese platter, which can be found at restaurants throughout the parks.  Cheese platters are typically offered both as an appetizer and as a dessert, and you’ll find a variety of cheeses served with perfect accompaniments, including honeycomb, dried fruits, compotes, nuts and crackers.  No matter where you travel on property, there’s bound to be a cheese platter at a restaurant near you!

3. Mac and Cheese

As delicious as it is unpretentious, mac and cheese at Walt Disney World is probably the best you’ll ever taste.  There are a variety of restaurants serving different takes on this dish throughout the parks.  Our favorite to date?  We have two: the Four-Cheese Macaroni served with Charred Strip Steak at Mama Melrose’s Restaurant and the Mac ‘N Cheese (with a kick to it!) at The Boathouse. We’re sure you’ll find your own favorites!

4. Macaroni and Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog

In keeping with the mac and cheese theme, our next cheese favorite at Walt Disney World is the Macaroni and Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog, available at Casey’s Corner.  This dish combines the popular Casey’s Foot-Long Hot Dog with the irresistible taste of cheesy mac and cheese, and a delicious sprinkling of bacon for good measure.  If you’re in the Animal Kingdom, you can find a similar hot dog at Restaurantosaurus.

5. Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup

We are gaga over Le Cellier Steakhouse’s Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.  This is possibly our favorite menu item from this famed restaurant in the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot, and even if you skip the amazing steak options here (though we’re not sure why you would), you’ll want to give this soup a try.  It features Moosehead Beer and a healthy dose of apple-wood smoked bacon, and we simply can’t say enough about this cheesy treasure!

6. Almond-crusted Cheesecake

What cheese-lover list would be complete without a section on cheesecake?  Not surprisingly, there is a dizzying array of cheesecake throughout Walt Disney World property, and we’d recommend some sampling to hone in on your favorite.  If you’re looking for a place to start, try the Almond-Crusted Cheesecake at Narcoossee’s, in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.  This delight features crushed almonds instead of the typical graham cracker crust, and the almond taste carries into the cheesecake itself.  The whole thing is slathered with a Lambert Cherry Sauce, and there’s nothing we don’t love about it!

7. Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Pretzel

If you’re looking for something a little less fancy but no less cheesy, then check out the Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Pretzel, available at a variety of locations throughout the parks.  We love the fact that it’s huge, which means it’s easy to share.  It’s also cheap, and you don’t have to commit to eating at a table service restaurant to get it.  It’s just spicy enough to add interest without overpowering the cheese and pretzel.

8. Fried Wontons

This delectable dessert is well worth a visit to Yak & Yeti Restaurant in the Animal Kingdom.  It consists of skewers of fresh pineapple alternating with delicious wontons that are loaded to the brim with cream cheese.  It’s accompanied by vanilla ice cream and an exquisite drizzle of sweet honey and vanilla.  Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
