6 Things Disney Pros Always Do at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’re a first time visitor to Animal Kingdom, it can be difficult to determine which attractions and experiences should be on your must do list, because unfortunately it is impossible to do and see everything in one day. After multiple visits, it becomes easier to decide what to do on each visit, what you can skip and what you absolutely must do. To help you figure out what you might like to do, here are 6 things Disney pros always do at Animal Kingdom.

6. See the Shows

Those who are Disney Pros know that the shows and entertainment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are not to be missed. Finding Nemo the Musical is a 40-minute live show featuring original songs, amazing performances, favorite characters and awe-inspiring puppets. Another show that pros can’t pass up is The Festival of the Lion King. This show is a spectacle of color, dance, song and all things Lion King! Both of these shows are perfect for the whole family and are arguably some of the best live shows Disney World has to offer. For a smaller show, Disney pros take in Flights of Wonder. This show has something the other shows don’t, live animals. Flights of Wonder is an entertaining and funny showcase of exotic birds. When at Animal Kingdom do as the pros do, and make sure you see these shows!

5. Single Rider Line

Disney Pros know a way to get on Expedition Everest with little to no way, without a FastPass+ reservation, and that is the single rider line option. There are only a few attractions in all of Disney World that have this option, and it’s a fantastic way to get a few extra rides in.

4. Have a Quick Service Meal

The food at Animal Kingdom is delicious! This park has great table service restaurants and yummy snacks, but their quick service locations are simply amazing! There is something for everyone at the quick service locations throughout Animal Kingdom, for the adventurous eater and for those who like more traditional American cuisine. For some of the best BBQ in Disney, head to Flame Tree Barbeque where you can get ribs, chicken, cornbread and dine outside while taking in the beautiful and lush landscape. The Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes serve flavorful Asian cuisine, and the windows at Harambe Market have unique dishes inspired by the street foods of Africa. For some more familiar entrees grab some pizza from Pizzafari, or head over to Restaurantosaurus for some great theming and burgers. Disney pros know that quick service dining at Animal Kingdom is the way to go for at least one of your meals at the park.

3. Arrive Early

Animal Kingdom isn’t open the late hours that the other parks are, so Disney pros know they need to maximize their time at Animal Kingdom and aim to be there early. Arriving early means being at the front gates about 15 minutes prior to rope drop, or the official opening of the park. If you’re a guest at a Disney resort you can take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours. On certain days Animal Kingdom will open one hour early as their Extra Magic Hour. Being at the park early means less people, less wait times for rides and attractions and the ability to wander the park without fighting crowds. It’s also a great time to snap some pictures without a ton of people in the background. Animal Kingdom is definitely worth getting up early for.

Disney pros know that if they want to meet Tarzan, Pocahontas, Flik, or Russell and Dug, they have to meet them at Animal Kingdom, otherwise they won’t get another chance. Do a little research before your visit to Animal Kingdom and check out the list of characters to meet. Take note of where and when each character appears for a meet and greet and make a point of being there. Disney’s meet and greets are really special experiences for Disney fans of all ages and you’re guaranteed some wonderful memories and fun photos!

Disney pros know that if you rush from attraction to attraction you’ll miss all the incredible details that are in this unique park. Take your time wandering the trails and seeing the wildlife, notice the difference in the pavement as you move from section to section in the park, and say hello to the cast members. Taking your time and absorbing all the details will only increase your enjoyment at Animal Kingdom and allow you to fully appreciate all that the things that make this park truly incredible.
