5 Things You’ll Love About Narcoossee’s In Walt Disney World

Ah, Narcoossee’s . . .the restaurant that is as hard to spell as it is to pronounce. 2 o’s 2 s’s & 2 e’s. There are many things about this Signature Dining destination located at the Grand Floridian resort that you will enjoy, but here are 5 things that you are sure to love:

5. You get to visit the Grand Floridian

Although I have publicly proclaimed that I cannot and will not pick a favorite resort it is hard to argue with the elegance and splendor of the Grand Floridian . . . yet it has a relaxing “vibe” at the same time. While you don’t need a dining reservation to visit the resort, I highly recommend that if you are dining at Narcoossee’s or one of the other fine eateries at the resort that you plan some extra time to sit in the lobby and listen to the orchestra, wander around the grounds, browse in the resort shops, or just take in all of the beautiful Victorian details (check out the Disney characters in the marble floor design). And at Christmas time it is even better with the sight & smell of the life sized gingerbread house in the lobby.

4. Brunch!

Narcoossee’s is not just for dinner anymore. You don’t have to be in a rush to get to a theme park every morning, why not spend a nice relaxing morning enjoying a delicious brunch? Brunch is a prix fixe menu that currently includes a specialty beverage, a pastry basket for the table, your choice of an appetizer & entrée, and a trio of desserts. What a filling way to start your day. The menu will change, but you may find options like artisanal cheeses, shrimp and grits and other seafood themed entrees, and custom omelettes.

3. Local Seafood

As a peninsula, Florida has a lot of coastline to provide delicious seafood—and a variety as well with the Gulf, the eastern Atlantic and the Keys at the southern tip. If you are looking for good seafood at Walt Disney World, Narcoossee’s is one of your best bets featuring many of these locally sourced items on its menu (as well as seafood from locations well known for their catches like Maine lobster and Alaskan Halibut). Food is freshly prepared in the show kitchen and delivered to your table by an excellent and knowledgeable wait staff that can help you choose the perfect entrée. But don’t worry—Landlubbers will find plenty to feast on at Narcoossee’s as well with pasta, steak and chicken dishes that are prepared in imaginative ways. The children’s menu here is nice too as it allows kids ages 3-9 to pick from “staples” like burgers, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese, or shrimp and steak for more adventurous palates.

2. A Seasonal Menu

As one of Walt Disney World’s several “signature” restaurants, the menu at Narcoossee’s changes with the season and with the chef’s creative mind. This is a good and a bad thing: you might find something you love that is not on the menu the next time you come, but, on the other hand, each dining experience can be unique with different menu options from which to choose. Some of the most popular menu items may stay constant sometimes with just an occasional tweak in its pairings. As a signature restaurant, Narcoossee’s prices are a bit higher than non-signature dining destinations, but that is to be expected from the quality of ingredients and preparation. It is also a 2 table service credit restaurant on the dining plan.

1. The View!

One of the most outstanding things that you are sure to love about Narcoossee’s is the view! It is situated on the Seven Seas Lagoon just beyond the Grand Floridian’s boat dock (for the boat that ferries guests back and forth to the Magic Kingdom). This prime location and the huge bank of windows around the restaurant offer a spot on view of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella castle. Inside the restaurant you have tables at the windows (which you could request, but be prepared to wait a while) along with an elevated floor of tables to offer an appealing view out the windows and over the heads of other guests. The view is particularly spectacular if you are there during the nightly showing of the Happily Ever After fireworks show at Magic Kingdom—talk about romantic and magical! But even during the day at brunch, in the evening at sunset, or at night with the lights on the castle and Main Street USA it is pretty breathtaking.

Have you had the pleasure of eating at Narcoossee’s? What did you love about your experience there?
