10 Things We Love about Main Street, U.S.A. at Walt Disney World

Main Street, U.S.A. is one of the most iconic locations in all of Walt Disney World. Whether you’re a Walt Disney World regular, or you’ve only been once, Main Street is sure to hold a place in your heart.

10. The Atmosphere

Upon entering through the gates of the Magic Kingdom, your first view is of Main Street, U.S.A. This old-fashioned street block is iconic to Disney’s Magic Kingdom from the very beginning. The storefronts, shops, guests, entertainment, and Cast Members make this Walt Disney World location very special.

9. The Parades

Main Street, U.S.A. is the hub for Magic Kingdom’s parades. In contrast to other parks, there are usually multiple parades per day at the Magic Kingdom: Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! and Festival of Fantasy. These parades are an excellent opportunity for your kids to see the characters they know and love. Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! even allows guests to participate in the magic with Cast Members as they dance on Main Street, U.S.A. The best way to ensure a seated spot for a parade is to pop a squat at least thirty minutes before each parade. During the holidays and peak season times, I recommend saving your spot even earlier.

8. The Fireworks

If you are looking for a picturesque view of the Magic Kingdom’s nightly firework spectacular, Wishes, find a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. to watch. There are no bad views on Main Street, but I do recommend reserving your spot early to ensure having one. Wishes is one fireworks show you will not want to miss!

7. The Characters

Throughout the day, characters will be available for meet-and-greets near the entrance to Main Street. You and your family can get autographs, take pictures, and visit with Mickey and friends for memories that will last a lifetime!

6. The Entertainment

For a live stage show in front of Cinderella’s Castle, check out Dream Along with Mickey, where you will watch characters like Mickey and Minnie sing and dance along with the Disney princesses. This show is sure to have you singing and dancing along with the whole Disney character crew! Other Main Street entertainment includes the extremely talented Casey’s Corner pianist, who will play your requests along with his favorite ragtime tunes! Don’t forget to check out the Citizens of Main Street, the Dapper Dans, The Magic Kingdom Welcome Show, The Magic Kingdom Trolley Show, and the Main Street Philharmonic as well!

5. The Shopping

Main Street, U.S.A. is the main hub when it comes to shopping in the Magic Kingdom. Both sides of the street are lined with different shops. A few of these include The Confectionary where you can satisfy your sweet tooth, and the Emporium, where you can find various Walt Disney World souvenirs. There is also a housewares/crystal store called Crystal Arts, where you can watch an artist make crystal pieces for sale. For an extra classic touch, you can have your silhouette made right on Main Street!

4. Starbucks

This next one is a crowd favorite. Many park guests do not want to have to give up their daily Starbucks coffee while on vacation; now they don’t have to! Main Street, U.S.A. is home to one of multiple Walt Disney World Starbucks locations.

3. Casey’s Corner

I have to give this place an honorable mention. Casey’s Corner is a classic Walt Disney World landmark for me. It was my first Walt Disney World meal ever when I was little. If you are looking for a place to get the best hot dog Disney has to offer, make sure you check out Casey’s Corner. Here, you can sit inside in front of the big screen, or outside where you can listen to the talented Casey’s Corner pianist.

2. The New Plaza

In early 2015, Disney’s Magic Kingdom opened up the new Main Street Plaza Gardens. These gardens are a great place to sit and relax, read a book, or eat a snack. The new plaza also opens up more space for guests to walk, and allows for a smoother exit from the park at night.

1. The Classics

Main Street, U.S.A. was one of Walt Disney’s own creations. He was there when the Magic Kingdom was being designed and built, and he oversaw the construction. Walt had his own apartment built in Cinderella’s Castle, where he could have stayed whenever he wanted. His ideas and innovations built Main Street from the ground up, and that presence is still seen in Walt Disney World to this day.
